Charcoal and graphite on archival Fabriano paper, 11.75” x 16.25”. Signed. This piece, which is part of a series based on a simplification of the shape of two hands, was drawn using a bunch of different methods. For some areas, I cut up paper and used it as a masking tool. For other areas, I laid down compressed charcoal and drew in reverse with an eraser. For yet others, I scratched into the surface of the paper using the end of a screw. Drawing (pun intended) from Surrealism and modernist abstraction, each piece in this series is about how our inner monologues and emotional landscapes shape our relationship to self and others.
